# Five-touch outreach sequence
*Module 6, Lesson 3. Write all five before sending any.*

**The rule: every touch must add something the previous one did not.**

| # | Day | Job | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 | Relevance and a small ask | Why them, what the role is, one question |
| 2 | 3 | The detail you held back | Scope, team, comp range, or the problem |
| 3 | 8 | A different angle or channel | Adjacent interest; or a different sender |
| 4 | 15 | Short nudge | Two lines; a real deadline only if one exists |
| 5 | 25 | Close the loop | Stopping, door open, permission for future roles |

---
## Extraction first (do this before writing)
| Field | This candidate |
|---|---|
| What they specifically work on (substance, not title) | |
| Trajectory — direction of their last two moves | |
| One concrete citable detail | |
| The honest reason this role is a step up **for them** | |

**If you cannot fill the fourth field, do not send the message.** That is a targeting signal.

---
## Touch 1 — under 90 words
> [One sentence about them, citing the concrete detail.]
>
> [One sentence on what the role is and why it connects to their trajectory.]
>
> [One question. Not a meeting request.]

## Touch 2 — day 3, under 80 words
> [The fact you held back — compensation range is the strongest candidate.]
>
> [One line connecting it to them.]

## Touch 3 — day 8
> [Change something structural: different channel, different sender (hiring manager
> works well), or a different framing of the same role.]

## Touch 4 — day 15, under 40 words
> [Two lines. A manufactured deadline is transparent and damages the next three
> messages you ever send them.]

## Touch 5 — day 25
> [You are stopping. The door is open. Would they like to hear about future roles?]
>
> *This converts a non-reply into a database record with consent attached.*

## QA checklist — run on every message
- [ ] Every factual claim traceable to their profile
- [ ] The job described is their **current** job (checked on a live profile, not a snippet)
- [ ] First sentence is about them, not you
- [ ] One detail that could apply to nobody else
- [ ] Under 90 words
- [ ] The ask is a question, not a diary invitation
- [ ] Comfortable if they reply "where did you get this?"

## The swap test
Swap the names between two of your messages. If both still make sense, they are not
personalised — they are a template with a variable.

## Measure by step
| Touch | Sent | Replies | Positive | Declines |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | | | | |
| 2 | | | | |
| 3 | | | | |
| 4 | | | | |
| 5 | | | | |

Declines rising at touch 2 is a **success** — touch 2 is giving people enough to decide.
